Electrolyte Characteristics
- Pencil plating is a special type of brush plating. With pencil rhodium plating small area elements of parts are selectively rhodium plated by means of direct current through a wiping touch with a tampon tip soaked with DORA RP (Pen) electrolyte. The process mainly serves for applying decorative patterns on e.g. jewellery, spectacles, tableware. Etc,

Operating Conditions
- Layers of approx. 0.04–0.05um can be reached if 1 cm2 is treated for about 20-30 seconds with constant movement.
- In addition, the voltage can be increased to maximally 15 volts and the electrolyte temperature to 40ºc.
- Higher voltage must not be applied because Then the tampon tips will be rendered unusable due to melting.
- In any case take care that the tampon is always well soaked with the electrolyte. Usually it is sufficient to dip the pencil into the electrolyte approx. 2-3 times per minute.

Instruction for use
- Dilute 100 ml of DORA RP (Bath) in 900 ml of deionized water for 1 liter of solution.
- use a glass beaker to heat solution to operating temperature (45ºc)
- use a platinized titanium (Pt/ Ti) anode
- suitable voltage (2.5 V)
- Time needed to plate 2-4 minutes
- Thickness obtained 0.2-0.4 um
- Speed of plating 0.05 um/min

In simple terms the process consist of allowing an electric current from a rectifier to flow through a solution (electrolyte) between metallic or other conducting materials placed in the solution at the positive (anode) and negative (cathode) terminals of a direct current circuit. The current flow in the circuit results in the release of charged metal particles called "ions" into the solution. They pass from the positive terminal (anode).we refer to the object being plated as cathode.
